Tate Egon Chavez is a Los Angeles based bassist-composer and producer of events at dublab.
Tate holds a B.A. in Music and Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, where he made his first forays into composition under the guidance of Berkeley’s Center for New Music and Audio Technologies (CNMAT).
His approach to composition and performance is as informed by his education as it is inspired by his role as an organizer within the local ecosystem of interdependent music in Los Angeles, having contributed to concert series such as Living Earth (formerly Floating) and Listen to Music Outside in the Daylight Under a Tree prior to joining dublab.
Tate’s compositions have been featured in Ars Electronica Festival (2016, 2019, 2021), Singapore Inside Out: Tokyo, and numerous film festivals. All the while, his experience as a musician has informed his approach to producing gatherings that promote curiosity, experimentation, inclusivity, and local awareness.
