Memory in Motion

Presented in partnership between dublab and Getty Research Institute, ‘Memory in Motion’ was a collaborative multimedia performance orchestrated by Colloboh in response to Sensing the Future: Experiments in Art and Technology (E.A.T.).

Through a series of performative experiments utilizing sound, video, and technology, ‘Memory in Motion’ examined various modalities by which information is acquired, stored, interpreted and continuously iterated upon.

This ambitious program brought together visual artists, musicians, and designers to present something new and experimental in the spirit of E.A.T.’s 9 Evenings, featuring multimedia experiments of sound, video, and technology by Colloboh, alsoknownasrox, tp Dutchkiss, Clayton McCracken,  Qur’an Shaheed, Nathan Keith, Madison McFarland, and Adrien Oneiga, including the longest audio tape loop on record at 162 feet, which can be seen extending across the three machines on stage and above the audience to the balcony.

The performance garnered over 1000 RSVPs and packed the Getty Center’s 400 seat Harold M. William’s Auditorium. It also served as a prototype for dublab’s artist residency program, activating the facilities as a workspace for artists to experiment and develop new ideas. This program was curated by Chelsea Anderson, Tate Chavez and Collins Oboh. Photos by Sam Lee. Flyer by Miles Wintner.
